the themes

Where are the themes?

Just installed the latest release of Vista and I find it just has one default theme. Where are all the other themes that Vista was supposed to have?

Are you talking about the Theme page or the msstyles on the Appearance page? What UI are you using? Basic, Standard, or Glass? "Antz" wrote in message

Windows Vista has four themes, right click the Desktop, click Personalize > Visual Appearance > Classic Appearance Options > there you will see themes listed, Classic, Standard, Aero Basic and Aero (if you have a video card that supports it). -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "Antz" wrote in message

My Apologize for being unclear.
The version of Vista on my PC is Build 5384. Atleast thats what it says. I've a NVidia GeForce4 MX 4000 which I am sure is compatible with Vista.
And when I right click the Desktop, click Personalize >

Visual Appearance - I just get a dialog box with just one tab called Appearence which has the following Options: 1. Windows Vista Basic

2. Windows Standard 3. Windows Classic 4. Hight Contrast White 5. High Contrast Black 6. High Contrast #2 7. High Contrast #1
There is absolutely no other theme listed like - Classic, Standard, Aero Basic and Aero
Thanks
in advance for all your advice

You totally confused me...
You list Vista Basic as #1, Standard as #2 and cCassic as #3....and then you say "there are no other theme listed like Classic, Standard, Aero Basic and Aero"....um you just listed the 3 out of 4 that your card is capable of....

You listed them! Windows Classic, etc... are the themes, just like Andre wrote.
Vista 5384 is a Beta and is by definition not complete. There will most likely be a Vista Plus and theme packs available when it hits retail next year.

Hi mate,
I installed Beta 2, build 5384 on a HP Compaq nx6120 which has an ATI video adapter on-board; the Aero glass-like theme was available on this PC.
I installed the same Beta 2, build 5384 on a HP Compaq nx6320 which has a generic Intel video chipset on-board; the Aero glass-like theme was NOT available - which sucks because this PC has an Intel dual-core CPU.
Anyway, the most probable reason you're not seeing the nice glassy Aero theme is because your video adapter won't support it.
HTH...
